Here it is. Eastern Washington just received shipment of the brightest, loudest, reddest football field in the history of sports. That's right, sports fans - a bright red field.
The school, located about 4 hours east of Seattle, decided the best way to crawl out from under Montana's shadow in the Big Sky Conference was to replace their natural grass field with colorful, artificial one. And so as to not copy Boise State, which sits about 7 hours to the southeast, they chose red. Really red.
The Red Turf Project, as it's called at EWU, was supported by big wigs like former Eagle and current Tennessee Titan Michael Roos, not to mention ESPN TV and radio personality Colin Cowherd, who also attended Eastern Washington.
The red field is the only one of its kind in the country, let alone Division I football. And you can bet they'll be the talk of the town, or the state, or the nation, at least once this year.
