Ex-NBA Champion Drops Intriguing Playoff Prediction for New York Knicks vs. Indiana Pacers
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Like most showdowns in the playoffs right now, the series between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers has been worth it for fans. But for former champion and NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins, there’s a chance these two teams can go to a deciding Game 7.

Before their series against the Pacers, New York took care of their business against Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round. In those six games , All-Star guard Jalen Brunson was easily the best player out of everyone when he averaged 35.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per contest. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid did his best to keep the Sixers afloat by dropping 33.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.2 blocks for his team.

The Pacers, on the other hand, advanced to the second round by eliminating a Milwaukee Bucks team that didn’t have Giannis Antetokounmpo in it. Due to his absence and Damian Lillard missing half the series, the Tyrese Haliburton-led team took everyone by surprise when they eliminated the higher-seeded squad in the first round.

As a result, these two teams with unproven All-Stars and little playoff experience met in the Eastern Conference Semifinals to battle it out to see which squad will come out on top. After four games, though, it isn’t clear yet who’s going to advance.

Former NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins Lays Game 7 Prediction for New York Knicks-Indiana Pacers Series

Like most showdowns in the playoffs right now, the Knicks-Pacers series is captivating fans because of its intensity and competitive nature. For Perkins, though, the former NBA champion said in a video posted on X by Pat McAfee that the winner will be decided in a Game 7:

As it stands, Indiana is shooting the ball at a more efficient rate and committing fewer turnovers. On the other hand, the Knicks are grabbing more offensive rebounds and getting more attempts at the free throw line. In the end, the winner will be determined by which team has more healthy players, especially since OG Anunoby went out with a strained hamstring in Game 2.

It remains to be seen who’ll take the lead in Game 5 and how the eventual loser will respond. If the series goes to Game 7, as Perkins predicted, the fans will ultimately be the big winner here.
